Alameda County Forum Structure
The Alameda County Forum is governed by a Steering Committee, established to accomplish the tasks and objectives outlined in the Forum's strategic plan. The Committee includes diverse representation from state and local public agencies, environmental organizations, watershed groups, and interested individuals. Members of the Steering Committee provide guidance and direction, assist in fundraising and planning Forum events and represent the Forum in the community.
History
The Alameda County Watershed Forum was founded in 2005 by a small group of stakeholders interested in learning more about the many watershed projects and organizations working in Alameda County. The Forum expanded to include more stakeholders and set a regular meeting schedule to create better communication, partnership and support for local watershed education, restoration, and stewardship efforts.
In early 2009, the Forum embarked on a capacity building initiative in order to better meet the needs of the Alameda County watershed community. Some of the results of this process include the development of this website, a new Forum Coordinator position, and the transition from the original meeting format to more targeted action oriented events. Forum events now include tours of restoration sites or other watershed projects and trainings on fundraising and other watershed related topics. Also, starting in 2010 the Forum will host their first mini watershed symposium. Click here to view upcoming Forum events.
